Colshaw Hall
Wedding Photography
An incredible wedding in Cheshire
Colshaw Hall is one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph at in Cheshire. The Grade II listed hall is owned by the Irlam family and is situated in Over Peover just outside of Knutsford. With fantastic grounds that are exclusively yours on a wedding day this venue is such a sort after wedding venue. Once you tie the knot in the Ceremony Hall or if you’re lucky enough to get married in one of the two licensed garden areas, the magnificent Peel suite is where the wedding breakfast and evening reception take place.
You can get in touch with the team here. You may also want to download their brochure which you can do here
A Brilliant Day at Colshaw Hall
The bride and groom not only spent the day with friends and family at Colshaw Hall but hired this wonderful Cheshire venue for three days. You could tell how much family and friends meant to this wonderful couple and I felt welcome from the moment I walked in. Thea and James’s family and friends are wonderful and it was a joy to be a part of.
I am lucky enough to be photographing weddings at Colshaw Hall on a regular basis and I really do enjoy it. The team from Colshaw Hall and Barretts catering will really looking after you on your big day, making sure you have the best day possible. Thea and her friends and family were lucky enough to be looked after for three days which meant the wedding day was just one massive party.
Thea & James opted to have a second photographer for the wedding, Kelly spent the morning with the groom and groomsmen and it meant I spent almost all morning with the bride and her brides-men and bridesmaids.
The bride and groom got married a couple of days earlier so today we had a friend of the couple conduct the ceremony. It was so personable and just perfect for this lovely couple.
The ceremony was filled with music and personal readings/ vows which was incredible. The couple headed out for the confetti photo before heading over to start their drinks reception which was again filled with music.
Perfect Entertainment at Colshaw Hall
The day was full of fantastic entertainment, Thea who works in the West End called in some incredible favours starting off in the ceremony where the guests were treated to quite honestly the best singing voice at a wedding I have ever heard. Not long after the bride and groom had Boujee Music to come and play both the reception and evening party, one of the bride and grooms friends joined the band to sing the first dance which was awesome. Honestly, having good entertainment at a wedding is so important.
An incredible Colshaw Hall Wedding
This was the first wedding of the year for me and I am so pleased it was at Colshaw Hall for Thea and James. Today was one of my favourite weddings and after being harassed by Thea for months and months I think I can firmly say they are now friends.
Thank you so much for having me along to photograph your wedding – it was fantastic and I loved being a part of it at Colshaw Hall.
What Thea & James said about Andy Griffiths Photography:
Finding a photographer was one of the most important things for us for our wedding. We found Andy on our venue Colshaw Hall’s social media page and we were blown away by his work. We loved that he focused on natural, candid, unposed pictures because it made you feel like you were there.
We booked him immediately, two years in advance, to make sure we could snap him up.
Straight away, Andy felt more like a friend than a photographer. He answered my many, many, MANY questions and gave us so many tips and tricks about different elements of our wedding. He had photographed Colshaw Hall countless times so knew all the best places and angles to get the best shots.
He put us completely at ease. It was so important to us to book not only brilliant professionals but also loves people. Andy is both an incredible photographer and an absolute legend.
On the day, all of my bridesmaids assume we were old friends. He made everyone so relaxed, we had a great laugh and he honestly felt like one of our guests.
We saw some of our photographs soon after our wedding and were wowed at how he had not just captured our beautiful friends and family in the most natural and stunning way but how they helped us relive all those memories and feelings from our special day. It was like we were back there all over again.
It was the happiest day of our lives and you can tell that by looking at the photos. That is all down to what a freaking amazing photographer – and just as brilliant a human – Andy is.
There is no one as good as Andy, our family and friends are amazed at all the incredible photographs in our wedding album and you can bet I’ll be finding any excuse to book him for any event I can find!
The best of the best.Much love, your now friends, Thea & James x

Colshaw Hall Useful Information
What is the history of Colshaw Hall ?
Colshaw Hall is a Grade II-listed building that was built in 1903 for textile magnates, the Peel family. It is a Tudor-style manor house that was designed by renowned Cheshire architect John Douglas who was also responsible for building projects for Prime Minister William Gladstone and soap giant William Lever.
The building has been an important part of the local community for many years and at one time was used as an auxiliary hospital during World War One. Severely damaged by fire in the twentieth century it was bought by the Irlam family in 2001 who restored the hall and its grounds to its former beauty and Colshaw Hall became a family home again. David Irlam and his wife decided that it was simply too big to be a family home so opened up their home as what you see today – one of the finest wedding venues in the country. Still owned by the Irlam family this is a family run business that know how to deliver the finest of service and weddings.
