Lancashire Alternative Wedding Photography | Willoughby Farm
This gorgeous bride and groom have been planning their alternative D.I.Y wedding for well over a year and Willoughby Farm in Lancashire was a fantastic choice of venue. All you need to think about here is a real working farm, a massive cow shed and a bride and groom committed to making their vision into reality – it was awesome. With the support of bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents and friends they pulled this off. Two weeks before the wedding their wedding venue was full of hay, cows and everything else that goes on a working farm. I am so pleased to have told Jim and Sarah’s story – from when I first spoke to Sarah on the phone I knew this wedding would amazing – and honestly it was. What makes it even better is that Willoughby Farm is a family run that has unbelievably never hosted a wedding before. I think this could be a wedding venue of the future – it has everything you want for something a little bit different – and the sunsets are incredible.
Bridal Preparations
The day started off photographing Sarah and her bridesmaids at the maid of honours house, capturing them getting ready with Amber Leigh doing make up and Dawn from The Gatsby Salon doing hair. The maid of honour, Laura was beginning to feel the pressure as she was also conducting todays humanist ceremony. It wasn’t long before the dresses were on and Sarah was putting on her dress before her the waiting father of the bride was downstairs – ready to walk his beautiful daughter down the aisle at the farm. You can just see how close this family are, it so nice being a part of their day.
Alternative Wedding Photography
Sarah and Jim spent well over a year planning this wedding and honestly it all came together perfectly. The whole family got involved in making this day what it was – father of the bride made the bar, the girls made the bunting as part of the hen night and they all helped out in the weeks before the wedding. After the humanist service – was what I can only explain as confetti-ageddon – the most amount of confetti I have ever photographed. Reception drinks, Canapés followed then the newly weds and I went for a relaxed walk around teh farm for some couple portraits, before hog roast and speeches. The speeches were brilliant, heartfelt and fitted perfectly with this amazing day.
It was bring your own booze for the day which meant everyone was able to relax, get drinks (get drunk) when they wanted and of course it made the party brilliant. Juke Bossa was the evenings entertainment, their unique style – fuse chart hits plus pop, soul & dance with Latin & World rhythm’s made for a great evening and one everyone enjoyed. A special thanks to Adam who came along and second shot for me at this great wedding.
The day wouldn’t have been a success without the help of the following wedding suppliers which made Sarah’s vision into a reality.
