Cairns Farm
Wedding Photography
It has taken a while but I am delighted to share this Cairns Farm Wedding Photography blog! I have just about defrosted from what was one of the coldest weddings I have ever photographed! It was a stunning day in Edinburgh, Scotland at the brilliant Cairns Farm Estate.
Set in around 500 hectares of beautiful Pentland Hills Regional Park this stunning venue has breathtaking views and is a truly hidden hillside location. Cairns Farm is incredible and is only 30 minutes drive from the centre of Edinburgh.
Cairns Farm is an exclusive use venue that has everything you could need for a brilliant wedding. I really enjoyed being at Cairns Farm and I am delighted to share this Cairns Farm Wedding Photography blog.
Cairns Farm Is Steeped In History
The estate has been in the Hamilton family since 1869, but parts go back hundreds of years: the distinctive ivy clad ruin of Cairns Castle, situated by the Victorian farmhouse which sits on the shore of Harperrig Reservoir, dates back to the 15th century – the perfect backdrop for your Cairns Farm wedding photos.

Winter Wedding at Cairns Farm
I started the day with the bride, her bridesmaids and her family. It was a great morning and I was made to feel incredibly welcome as soon as I arrived. It was soon time to head into Edinburgh to Stockbridge Church. A lovely church and the perfect service – once married it was a quick confetti shot and time to get in the car and drive the short 30 minute drive to Cairns Farm for the wedding reception and party.
Cairns Farm Wedding Photography
Once all the guests arrived at Cairns Farm is was time for canapés and drinks, Cairns Farm is a perfect space to celebrate your marriage. Everyone had a great time and after a while we braved the weather to get some quick group photos and couples portraits! These were all done super quick because it was about -10c with the wind chill. So lucky to have a super cool bride willing to brave the weather.
I love couples portraits at Cairns Farm – it is the perfect backdrop, with breathtaking views, rolling hills and beautiful Scottish countryside.
Fantastic Evening at Cairns Farm
It was soon time for speeches and then the evening party – today we were fortunate enough to have fantastic speeches and a great party including a ceilidh. Everyone had a great time. I had a fantastic time photographing at the wonderful Cairns Farm Estate and I am delighted to share this wedding blog.
