Kelsey & Aaron’s Autumn Colshaw Hall Wedding
Two years ago today, Kelsey and Aaron celebrated their incredible autumn wedding at Colshaw Hall – and what a day it was. This one had everything that makes Colshaw Hall such a dream to photograph: genuine emotion, loads of laughter, and those beautiful golden autumn tones across the Japanese Gardens.
A Little About Colshaw Hall
If you’re not familiar with it, Colshaw Hall is one of Cheshire’s finest wedding venues. Set in the heart of the countryside, it’s a family-owned private estate with a ceremony room, luxury reception spaces, and acres of landscaped gardens. I’m proud to be a recommended Colshaw Hall wedding photographer, and it’s always one of my favourites to return to.
Every season at Colshaw Hall offers something different, but autumn is particularly special. The trees around the Japanese Gardens turn every shade of red and gold, and the light has that perfect soft glow that photographers dream of.
The Morning
The day started in the Bridal Suite, where Kelsey and her bridesmaids were getting ready. The atmosphere was relaxed and full of excitement, with plenty of laughter and a few emotional moments too. It’s always a brilliant start when everyone’s enjoying themselves and the nerves turn into pure anticipation for the day ahead. It was soon time for Kelsey to get in her dress and we did a couple of reveals with her dad and bridesmaids. It was such a nice moment!
The Ceremony
Their ceremony took place in the elegant Ceremony Room at Colshaw Hall. It’s a beautiful space filled with natural light, and with the warm autumn colours outside it looked incredible. As Kelsey walked down the aisle, Aaron couldn’t take his eyes off her. The ceremony room has since changed since this wedding, providing even more natural light – Colshaw Hall continues to improve which is why it really is such a special place.
With Your Ceremony were once again fantastic at delivering a heartfelt and personal service that had everyone smiling.
Confetti and Drinks
Afterwards, guests gathered outside for confetti before heading over for drinks. The weather couldn’t have been better for an autumn day – crisp, clear and full of colour. The courtyard was full of energy, laughter and conversation – the perfect mix for relaxed, candid moments.
Portraits in the Japanese Gardens
Kelsey and Aaron’s Colshaw Hall wedding portraits were absolutely stunning. We headed to the Japanese Gardens, where the vibrant leaves created a perfect backdrop. The light was soft and golden, and the two of them were completely at ease in front of the camera.
No forced posing – just a couple enjoying the moment while I quietly captured it all. If you’re planning a Colshaw Hall wedding in autumn, this is the spot you don’t want to miss. The colours at that time of year are unreal and it’s one of my favourite places for portraits.
Wedding Breakfast and Speeches
The celebrations then moved into the Peel Suite for the wedding breakfast. The room looked fantastic – warm lighting, seasonal touches and a great atmosphere. The speeches were spot on too: emotional, hilarious and full of stories that had everyone laughing.
I love photographing speeches at Colshaw Hall because the setup gives great light and perfect angles for reactions. Those genuine moments of laughter and connection are what wedding photography is all about.
Evening Celebrations
As the sun went down, the party properly got started. The first dance was a hit, and before long the dance floor was packed. Guests didn’t hold back, and the energy stayed high all night. Inflatables at the ready everybody had a great time. The mix of great music meant an incredible atmosphere and the perfect ending to a brilliant day.
Looking Back Two Years Later
It’s been two years since this amazing Colshaw Hall wedding, but I still remember how much fun it was to photograph. Kelsey and Aaron were a dream to work with – relaxed, full of laughter and up for anything.
The combination of their personalities, the autumn setting and Colshaw Hall’s incredible backdrop made it one of those weddings that truly sticks with you. The family and friends were wonderful all day.
