Sandhole Oak Barn

Weddings are always about the people, the moments, and the memories—not just the venue. Max and Lena’s wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn was a perfect celebration of everything that makes a wedding day special. From the laughter during the speeches to the stunning backdrop of the venue, their day was a mix of fun, emotion, and great company.

Sandhole Oak Barn, located in the Cheshire countryside, it’s a purpose-built wedding venue that nails the balance between charm and functionality. It’s not just another barn conversion; it was designed for weddings from the ground up. With views of the tranquil lake, plenty of outdoor space, and a layout that flows seamlessly, it’s no surprise this venue is a favourite for couples. There’s even a Shepherd’s Hut and a bridal suite on-site for getting ready, making it a stress-free start to the day.

The team at Sandhole Oak Barn is brilliant at keeping things running smoothly, which leaves couples free to enjoy every moment. Whether it’s an outdoor drinks reception or dancing the night away inside, the venue provides a relaxed and picturesque setting for a wedding with some of the best sunsets on offer.

I absolutely love a Sandhole Oak Barn wedding and today was no different. Max started his day in the quirky Shepherd’s Hut on-site. This little space is ideal for grooms—it’s cosy, private, and has everything you need to prepare for a big day (including a bit of peace and quiet!). He and his groomsmen enjoyed the morning getting ready and sharing a few laughs before the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Lena was in the bridal suite with her bridesmaids and mum. Surrounded by the hum of morning excitement, she got ready with her mum by her side. There was a special moment as Lena’s mum helped her into her dress—a memory they’ll both treasure forever and then the brides dad came into see her all ready for the day and it was a lovely moment for the whole family.

The ceremony itself was heartfelt and intimate. The Sandhole Oak Barn wedding ceremony space provided a lovely atmosphere for Max and Lena to exchange their vows, surrounded by family and friends. The ceremony was full of both laughter and tears of joy which I love to capture.

The weather played ball, which meant the drinks reception could take place outside. Guests enjoyed mingling by the lake, soaking in the views, and raising a glass to the newlyweds. This part of the day felt so relaxed, giving everyone a chance to unwind, chat, and enjoy the sunshine. Outdoor receptions like this are fantastic and I would always recommend being outside when the weather allows.

When it came to the speeches, at this Sandhole Oak Barn wedding, Max and Lena’s loved ones knocked it out of the park. Kicking things off, Lena’s dad shared some heartwarming and funny stories, setting the tone perfectly. Her sister followed with a speech that was a mix of nostalgia and humour, bringing a few happy tears to the room.

Max’s speech was sincere, grateful and then wrapping it all up, the two best men delivered a hilarious yet tasteful speech that had everyone laughing.

As the sun began to set, we headed back out for sunset at Sandhole – which is absolutely amazing – not long after, Sandhole Oak Barn’s picturesque setting transitioned effortlessly into a lively evening celebration. Guests danced, chatted, and enjoyed every second of the festivities. It was clear that Max and Lena had planned a day that truly reflected their personalities—fun, genuine, and all about bringing people together.

Andy is incredible, our wedding photos are amazing!! He captured everything so perfectly and so naturally which is exactly what we wanted. We’ve got pictures of hugs, chats, dance moves and laughs that we don’t even remember happening because the day was such a whirlwind!

He’s not lying when he says he’s more than a photographer, I actually feel like he was also part time wedding coordinator

I’ll 100% be recommending him to everyone we know.

Days like Max and Lena’s remind me why I love what I do. Wedding photography isn’t about lining people up for stiff, posed photos—it’s about capturing the real moments. From the laughter during the speeches to the quiet smiles exchanged during the ceremony, every photo tells part of the story. That’s why I’m all about ‘non-boring wedding photography.’ It’s not just about snapping pictures; it’s about capturing moments as they happen in a way that feels true to the day.
