Danielle and Conor’s Wedding at Mottram Hall
Mottram Hall is one of those venues where weddings just run really well. It has the feel of a proper country house hotel, with big grounds, stylish interiors, and plenty of space for guests to relax and enjoy themselves. As a Mottram Hall wedding photographer, that makes a big difference, because when a venue flows nicely, the day naturally feels calmer, more fun, and much better for documentary photography.
Danielle and Conor’s wedding was exactly that sort of day. Relaxed, full of personality, brilliantly planned, and packed with genuine moments rather than staged photo opportunities. It was the kind of wedding where everyone is actually present in the moment, rather than worrying about what happens next.
For me, this was one of those weddings that reminds you why you love doing this job. Brilliant couple, top suppliers, beautiful venue, and a day that unfolded perfectly without feeling forced or over-produced.
Bridal Prep at Mottram Hall
Danielle got ready in one of the suites at Mottram Hall, which is a great setup for wedding mornings. Lots of natural light, space for the bridal party, and that slightly buzzy atmosphere you only really get on wedding days.
Her dress came from Bridal Lounge, and it suited her style perfectly. Elegant, modern, and comfortable enough that she could actually enjoy her day rather than feeling restricted. From a Mottram Hall wedding photographer perspective, that always makes a difference, because when a bride feels great in what she’s wearing, the photos look better without any effort at all.
The room was full of laughter, excitement, and a few emotional moments, which is exactly what you want on a wedding morning. I kept things very natural, capturing moments as they happened rather than interrupting the flow of the prep.
Meanwhile, Conor and his groomsmen were in full laid-back mode. A few jokes, some nerves, and a lot of anticipation. I always like covering both sides of the morning because it gives a much richer story of the day.
The Ceremony at Mottram Hall
Danielle and Conor chose to have their ceremony at Mottram Hall itself, which makes everything smooth and simple for guests. No travel, no rushing, just one beautiful venue for the entire day.
The ceremony room has lovely soft light, which is ideal for natural, documentary Mottram Hall wedding photography. I stayed unobtrusive throughout, letting moments happen rather than directing anything unnecessarily. The ceremony room was wonderfully decorated by Lasting Memories by Alison.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Conal Duffy, who set exactly the right tone.
Danielle walking down the aisle was a standout moment, and Conor’s reaction was completely genuine. Those real, unguarded reactions are exactly why I shoot weddings in a relaxed, documentary way. You can’t stage them, you just have to be in the right place at the right time.
Drinks Reception and Magic
After the ceremony, guests moved straight into drinks reception mode in the grounds of Mottram Hall. This is always one of my favourite parts of the day as a Mottram Hall wedding photographer because the atmosphere is at its most natural. People are chatting, laughing, hugging, and properly enjoying themselves.
This part of the day was made even better by Sam Fitton, who performed close-up magic for the guests. He was absolutely brilliant. People were stunned, entertained, and completely confused in the best possible way. Magic works so well at weddings because it brings people together and creates genuine reactions, which are gold for photography.
While all of this was happening, I captured natural guest interactions, quick family photos, and some relaxed couple portraits around the grounds of Mottram Hall. Nothing stiff, nothing forced, just easy, real moments.
Wedding Breakfast and Turnaround
When it was time for the wedding breakfast, everyone moved inside, and the mood shifted into proper celebration mode.
The speeches were brilliant. Funny, heartfelt, and full of personality. No cringey bits, just honest stories and proper laughs with lots of emotion. That always makes my job more enjoyable and leads to much stronger photos.
During the wedding breakfast and room turnaround, Jade Parr performed, adding a really classy touch to the atmosphere. She kept things upbeat getting everyone ready for the evening ahead which is exactly what you want at that stage of the day.
From a Mottram Hall wedding photographer perspective, this part of the day is great for storytelling images. Guests chatting, reacting to speeches, and simply enjoying themselves makes for much more interesting photography than endless posed shots.
Evening Reception and Party
When evening arrived, the energy went up a notch.
Will Madden took charge and absolutely smashed it. Packed dancefloor, high energy, and guests who were properly up for a good time.
Danielle and Conor’s first dance was a brilliant moment, and from there the party just kept building. I focused on capturing real moments on the dancefloor, big group scenes, emotional hugs, and all the chaos that makes wedding evenings so much fun to photograph.
Mottram Hall works really well for evening coverage because there’s enough space for guests to move around, but it still feels lively and connected. You never get that awkward empty dancefloor feeling here.
What the Bride & Groom said about Andy Griffiths Photography at Mottram Hall
We booked Andy for our wedding in May and all I can say is he was hands down one of the best things we booked absolutely amazing! Andy took control of the day and made it perfect for us! He has such a calm, cool and fun vibe and we felt like we had known him forever. Without the pictures I would have already 100% recommended Andy to anyone but… WOW! The pictures are out of this world he captured every single moment of the day and we felt like we was re living it.
I absolutely hate my picture being taken and there isn’t a single one that I don’t love. Andy some how was here there and everywhere without you knowing and not once did he drag us away from our day. Andy is a genius and the absolute best photographer around! If there is one bit of wedding advice I will give it is to BOOK ANDY NOW.
We cannot thank Andy enough for being an absolute top guy and giving us the most amazing memories to look back on forever and we cannot wait to hopefully see him again at our friends wedding’s in future haha!
Thank you so much again,
