Destination Wedding Photography – Holden Manz, Cape Town, South Africa | Gemma & Mark
I was absolutely delighted to photograph Gemma & Mark’s wedding at Holden Manz. Destination wedding photography at Holden Manz in Franschhook was my first time shooting abroad and I loved it. Holden Manz is about an hours drive from Cape Town. The Holden Manz wine estate, once known as Klein Genot, is owned by Gerard Holden and Migo Man who first arrived in South Africa in the 1990s and after travelling to many world regions around the world, decide to begin an estate with great wine and a wonderful family environment. It lies between the Franschhoek and Stoney Brook rivers and makes for a perfect setting to get married in.
Gemma and her bridesmaids got ready in the house at Holden Manz with large spacious rooms and plenty of natural light it was the perfect place for Steph from Salon Maghull near Liverpool to do everyone’s hair. Mark was getting ready at his best man’s house a short drive away where they were busy practising their speech, having a few beers and relaxing by the pool before heading to the gorgeous wedding venue.
Outdoor Ceremony in the sun
Mark & Gemma chose to tie the knot outdoors surrounded by close friends and family who had travelled from the UK and South Africa. Soon they had said their vows in front of around 40 guests they were able to enjoy their wedding reception with some traditional African music and the summer sun with plenty of wine, canapés and beer. We then headed inside for the wedding breakfast, with little wooden elephants as wedding favours and gorgeous wine from Holden Manz, it was perfect for all the guests to enjoy the day.
Couples portraits in the Holden Manz vineyards
Holden Manz was the perfect venue and I absolutely loved photographing Gemma & Mark’s wedding. We were able to use the vineyards for couples photos and the sun just coming down over the mountains was honestly an incredible opportunity to create gorgeous images for the lovely bride and groom. With golden sun light setting over the mountains it was the perfect setting and I loved every minute. After the photos, it was time for some heart felt speeches and the wedding breakfast (and plenty of wine) the music started and the dance floor was packed all night. A fantastic wedding and one I was delighted to be a part of it.
