A Wonderful Colshaw Hall Same Sex Wedding
Ellie and Lucia’s Colshaw Hall same sex wedding was full of joy, love, and a lot of laughter – exactly what weddings should be about. As a recommended Colshaw Hall photographer, I’ve captured many incredible days here, but theirs stood out for its relaxed start, emotional reveals, and the kind of fun you only get when two brides bring all their favourite people together to celebrate.
Morning prep and emotional reveals
The day began with both brides getting ready at Colshaw Hall. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, the atmosphere was relaxed and full of excitement. Even though they got ready in the same space, they made sure to keep their dresses hidden until the big reveal moments.
Both reveals were hugely emotional – a mix of nerves, joy, and pure love that’s impossible to stage. It’s these kinds of moments that show why wedding photography is more than just posed portraits. Documenting natural reactions like this is what really tells the story of a wedding day.
Hair and make-up were in the expert hands of Cheshire Make Up Company, making sure everyone looked their absolute best from morning to night.
Dresses and a later outfit change
Ellie and Lucia each chose dresses that reflected their personalities perfectly. The dresses came from Sophia Jo Bridal and Kath Adam Bridal. Later in the evening, Lucia switched things up with a smart suit from Next, which was perfect for dancing the night away.
Ceremony and celebrations at Colshaw Hall
Colshaw Hall is one of Cheshire’s most sought-after venues, and for good reason. It combines elegance with a relaxed feel, offering everything in one place. The couple chose this luxury venue to host their day, and it was the perfect setting for their ceremony and celebrations.
One of the many advantages of Colshaw Hall is how smoothly everything runs. The staff know weddings inside out, and as a recommended photographer here, I can say that no detail is ever overlooked. This means couples like Ellie and Lucia can focus on what really matters – enjoying their day with family and friends.
After the ceremony, drinks and laughter flowed while guests explored the gardens. It gave me plenty of chances to capture those candid, natural moments I’m known for – 99% unposed and all about real connections.
A competitive edge – inflatable Gladiator style
As the evening rolled in, Ellie and Lucia had a surprise lined up for their guests: an inflatable Gladiator duel. Watching guests battle it out with giant foam sticks was as hilarious as it sounds.
Moments like this are exactly what makes wedding photography so rewarding. You never quite know what’s coming next, but you can be sure it’ll look brilliant in the photos.
Dancing the night away
Once those brave enough had recovered from the Gladiator duels, the evening entertainment kicked off. With the dance floor packed, Ellie and Lucia joined their guests to celebrate late into the night. The atmosphere was aweosme, and it made for some brilliant documentary-style shots that showed just how much fun everyone was having.
What The Couple Said About Andy Griffiths Photography
We could not recommend Andy enough as a wedding photographer.
Andy made us feel so at ease in the build up and throughout our day. Andy has such a chilled demeanour which made us relax.
we booked Andy because he specialises in candid ‘none staged’ photography and thats exactly what we got on the day. We only wanted a few group pictures which he got done in no time, meaning we could actually mingle with our guests and enjoy the day.
I can’t thank Andy enough for making our day as incredible as it was.
Why choose Colshaw Hall for your wedding?
For couples still deciding on a venue, here’s a little about Colshaw Hall. This Grade II listed hall is set within 300 acres of Cheshire countryside. The Irlam family restored it into one of the most exclusive wedding venues in the North West, combining history with luxury.
Colshaw offers a purpose-built ceremony room, stunning reception spaces, private gardens, and on-site accommodation – all in one place. It’s the kind of venue that can handle a guest list of any size without losing that intimate, personal feel.
As a recommended Colshaw Hall photographer, I know all the best locations for photos – from the grand driveway to the beautiful Japanese gardens. Couples don’t need to disappear for hours for portraits. I keep things quick and relaxed so you can get back to your guests, while still coming away with photos you’ll treasure.
