Cindy & Joel’s Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey Wedding
Some weddings just have that perfect mix of laughter, sunshine and incredible energy. Cindy and Joel’s day was exactly that. From their ceremony at St Oswald’s Church in Guiseley to their brilliant celebration at The Tithe Barn, Bolton Abbey, this was one unforgettable day filled with all the right ingredients for a cracking wedding.
The Morning Preparations
The day started for the bride at home, surrounded by her bridesmaids and family. There was that perfect blend of calm and excitement as everyone got ready for what was to come. Over with the groom, my second photographer Ally joined him and the groomsmen at his mum’s house, where the atmosphere was full of laughs and great energy.
I’d photographed Joel’s brother’s wedding a few years ago, so it was brilliant to catch up with familiar faces. It’s always a great feeling when families come back to me for another wedding, and it made the day feel even more personal.
The Ceremony at St Oswald’s Church, Guiseley
St Oswald’s Church, located on Church Street in Guiseley, was the perfect setting for their ceremony. It’s a beautiful historic church with a welcoming feel, and Cindy’s arrival brought plenty of smiles and a few happy tears. The light streamed through the stained glass windows, adding to the emotion and atmosphere of the ceremony.
After the “I dos”, guests gathered outside to celebrate and shower the couple with confetti before everyone made their way to the next part of the day — the stunning Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey.
Arriving at The Tithe Barn, Bolton Abbey
The Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey is one of Yorkshire’s most impressive wedding venues. Managed by Cripps & Co, it sits within the Bolton Abbey Estate in the Yorkshire Dales. The barn itself dates back to the 16th century and has been beautifully restored while keeping all its original charm. With huge stone walls, exposed beams and sweeping countryside views, it’s no surprise that a Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey wedding is high on many couples’ wish lists.
The team at The Tithe Barn have created a space that feels both historic and modern, perfect for couples wanting something grand yet relaxed. The courtyard outside overlooks the River Wharfe and provides the perfect spot for drinks, laughter and photos.
Drinks in the Courtyard
The weather was absolutely perfect. Guests spilled out into the courtyard to enjoy drinks, canapés and the stunning views. Everyone was in high spirits, enjoying the sunshine and celebrating with the newlyweds.
It’s days like this when photography becomes even more fun. Relaxed, candid moments are everywhere — people chatting, laughing, and raising a glass to Cindy and Joel. We also used this time for some relaxed couple portraits, taking advantage of the golden light and the beautiful surroundings.
Singing Waiters and a Party to Remember
After food and the incredible speeches – this is where things got lively. Cindy and Joel had booked surprise singing waiters for the wedding breakfast, and the reaction was absolutely brilliant. Guests went from polite conversation to full-on singing and dancing in minutes. The atmosphere was electric and easily one of the best parties of the year.
It’s moments like these that show how much thought couples put into making their day unique. The singing waiters completely lifted the energy and set the tone for an incredible evening ahead.
Evening Celebrations
After the laughter and singing, the celebrations continued, more great food, and plenty of dancing. The Tithe Barn, with its huge open space and warm lighting, looked incredible.
Before the dance floor opened the couple did a champagne tower instead of the traditional cake cut – I personally think this is a much better idea. Once finished it was straight into the first dance. By the point, guests were more than ready to celebrate properly. The party carried on long into the night and summed up exactly what a Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey wedding should be – full of energy, love and unforgettable memories.
Why The Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey Is a Dream Venue

For couples wanting that mix of character, atmosphere and beauty, it’s hard to beat. Every Tithe Barn Bolton Abbey wedding I’ve photographed has had its own unique personality, but one thing remains the same – the venue always delivers.
